Akaha's father was a member of a criminal society called Ryuugen who did not report the true sale of drug. Since childhood, Akaha has been fleeing with his parents, but they were caught by a higher-up of Ryuugen (called Sawaki) one day. Sawaki killed Akaha's parents, but he spared Akaha (because he didn't cry or beg). Since that day, Akaha lost his real name (Akaha was an alias given by Sawaki) and become Sawaki's personal subordinate, also known as Sawaki's right hand. According to the police's information, "the right hand of Ryuugen" is the No.2 leader in Ryuugen. Akaha actually held that position too. In the first OVA, Akaha disguised as Kagura Akito and met Kai Etou (one of the main character) who came to the same botanical garden for investigation. Kai seemed to like Akito a lot, without discovering that he was actually Akaha. In the manga, Kai has taken care of Akaha once, when Akaha is injured in an accident and lost his memory for a short period of time. He said to Kai that he doesn't want to go back to Ryuugen, it is unccertain whether this is a truth or a lie.
