Lady Koto is a black rabbit that the Monk Myoe drew to life. As a rabbit, she was granted a human body by a bodhisattva, although she claims that love transformed her. She has deep feelings for Myoe and the two of them eventually live together as a couple and adopts three children. However, it is because of her identity as a drawing that forces her to leave Kyoto with Myoe. She has a connection with the young Koto, and the two of them must find each other to return home. She is Koto's mother.
