Sun Wukong is a modest peasant boy in the rural old China, whose town has been completely destroyed by the power struggles between the ruling classes, which are devastating the country. Forsaken, Wukong embarks on a journey that will lead him to live great adventures and meet many people, friends and enemies

Won the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Grand Prize in 2000.

From its beginning to 1997 was published in different magazines of Futabasha, Kodansha and Ushio Shuppansha, and compiled in 16 volumes. In 2008, a second part of the series, "Saiyuu Youenden Saiikihen" started publising in Kodansha's Morning, and it was later changed to Morning Two.

Kodansha also released a reedition of the first part of the series in 2009, compiled in 10 volumes under the name of Saiyuu Youenden Taitouhen.
